Fourteen years. That's how long this 'on again-off again' album took to complete. Was it worth the wait? No CD is worth a 14-year wait. Is it a good album? Yes. For all intents and purposes, Axl Rose IS the sound of Guns'N'Roses. Not to denigrate Slash and cohorts, but Axl can easily hire 'Slash sound a likes' to fill in the guitar riffs and with the army of musicians he used in the studio recording this CD, it's definitely a quintessential Guns'N'Roses album. Axl refused to promote the album so ... Read More

I just purchased Chinese Democracy a few days ago, and must say that I was totally blown away, because i didn't expect much. This is a great cd that hasn't left my car stereo. The more I listen to it,the more I love it. To be honest, I grew up with Guns N' Roses from the very begining, but was never a huge fan, I have seen them many times in concert and liked them quite a bit but they were never my favourite band, but I must say this album is worth the price and a great listen. Axl is awesome and ... Read More

I was so skeptical about this album, I was reluctant to hear it. But after two or three plays it really grew on me! It may sound a blasphemy, but I think this is the most mature and heartfelt album from GNR. And it truly shows that Axl Rose is the talent and the main driving force of the group. Removing all previous musicians makes the album sound even better than the old ones, and this is their only album without fillers (The two Use Your Illusion albums were full of them). The vocals are marvelous, ... Read More

Axl insists that this is not a solo album - that this was a true "band" effort. If so, this band is definitely NOT Guns N' Roses. But it doesn't really matter. This is a great album!
If you start to think more "November Rain" and "Estranged", and less "Out Ta Get Me" and "You Could Be Mine", you'll have a much better idea of what to expect from this album. Having said that, the title track and a hand full of other songs on this album really rock in their own way.

This is a good album. The volume is quite lower than most recent records, and that's a good thing, as it sounds great when you crank up the volume on your player. Axl can still sing (I'm surprised) and the guitar work is quite good.
